Winnipeg police investigate homicide at cemetery

Winnipeg police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred at a cemetery in the city’s Fort Garry neighbourhood on Friday evening.

According to a media release, on April 16, at approximately 5:10 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired at a cemetery located in the 1200 block of McGillivray Boulevard. One male was struck by gunfire and transported to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Hayder Hassan, 21, of Winnipeg.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.
