First Nations Police have captured a man from Sandy Bay who was on the Manitoba’s Most Wanted list.

On Friday, at approximately 2 p.m., Manitoba First Nations Police Service officers attempted a traffic stop on a white SUV in Sandy Bay.

As officers activated emergency lights and sirens in an effort to pull the vehicle over, the driver refused to stop and took off at a high rate of speed.

Police pursued the vehicle for over 30 minutes when the suspect vehicle came to a stop in a field west of Sandy Bay.

A female suspect jumped from the vehicle but was quickly apprehended by police. The second suspect ran from the vehicle into the bush and after a 10-minute foot chase, the suspect was apprehended by an MFNPS officer.

Edward (BJ) Sutherland, 29-years-old, from Sandy Bay was arrested and taken into custody. He was wanted by MFNPS and RCMP on several outstanding warrants and further charges are pending.

The female was also arrested and charges are pending.
